Finishing issue

While trying to finish a new build last weekend, I somehow managed to get the epoxy mixed wrong. Too many distractions at the time. I wiped the epoxy off the threads - which was pretty easy since it wouldn't harden. My question is this. There is obviously residue still on the threads from the incorrectly mixed expoxy. Can I apply correctly mixed epoxy over the threads even though it has the residue and will it adhere and cure properly, or do I need to remove the guides and thread and retie? I'm concerned about fish eye in the finish as well as the threads/guides failing over time. Thanks in advance for your input.

Put a correctly mixed coat over and all will be good The new coat will mix with the residue of the old

speaking of finishing I was at a Dollar Store today and found a package of 5 brushes in a pack for one dollar...I tried some and they work great...they are flat nylon bristles and clean up good with brush cleaner. They do a nice job....Gene
