I decided to re-do a wrap on a snake which had a non-water based CP applied to it. When the thread came off the paint on the rod, the paint under the wrap was a combination of discolored, bubbled, or came off with the thread. No big deal since the area will be recovered by thread. Next time I'll test in the area of a grip first. I am wondering if this a common issue or just a problem with some brands of blanks? I am just glad I discovered this before buttering up an open dec wrap!
thanks, Pesco Ergo Sum Re: CP blistering paint?

I can't imagine a CP causing anything like that. I've never heard of any CP having a "hot" ingredient. I many, if not most, are water based. Mike (Southgate, MI) If I don't want to, I don't have to and nobody can make me (except my wife) cuz I'm RETIRED!! Re: CP blistering paint?

Cason' s says it is flammable so probably not water based. St. Croix blank. I am sorry I wasn' t more clear. I was trying to avoid sounding like I was bashing products as I like both. I was rather startled tho.. Re: CP blistering paint?

Cason's has 2 different types. Water based and solvent based. It sounds like you are using their solvent based. David Dosser Coshocton, OH Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
