Im about to build a surf rod using the X flock shrink wrap from mudhole (not the nu skin). When putting it on, do I want to cut a little extra so the butt cap can go over it a little bit? Also, for the fore grip, do i want to do the same thing so that it goes under the reel seat a little? Ive got 3M super 77 so i guess i could put a little bit of that on the blank to make sure it holds good, or would another way be better? Re: Surf Rod Grip

you want to add a little for shrinkage.and add a little glue at the ends. and shrink it down over the ends at the seat and cap Re: Surf Rod Grip

I was thinking about doing the same thing. What do you guys recommend I put under the shrink wrap? Or is it okay to use it directly over the blank? Re: Surf Rod Grip

i put the shrink directly on top of the blank, i let it hang off the bottom end about an inch and while its hot tuck it into the bottom of the blank, once it cools it holds that end in place. the top end by the real seat i put 1/2 inch of thread to secure it.
if you want to give it some different look/feel, you can put tape or string underneath of it, to give it more of a grippy feel to it. just something different.... Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
