On my next build, i'm planning on using EVA grips but have one question. I see videos on how to install them, and how you need to use the right size. None of these tell you how or where to measure to get the right size ID. Since they come in 5 different sizes, how do you choose the right one? Any help would be great. Thanks, Jack Re: EVA grips

Check the FAQs page for more info on installation. There is an article from an early RodMaker issue on chamfering that may also help you. Consult the online library here for that one.
The grip should come to rest at some point prior to entering the area where you intend it to reside. A few inches is fine. EVA can be stretched a good bit, but be careful not to overdo things. I think you'll be able to easily increase the bore size by stretching by perhaps 30%. More than that and I'd get a larger grip, or ream the one I have. ............. Re: EVA grips

Measure smallest blank diameter where the grip will reside. Make sure the bore of the grip is smaller than this.
The firmer the EVA the less it will stretch. Unless the grip is long, like 12 inches or more, and/or the blank tapers a lot you generally won't need to ream. Russ in Hollywood, FL. Re: EVA grips

Jack,
Although many folks stretch this style grips to some degree when installing them on the blank; I have never liked this method. I would just rather have a perfect firm slide on fit of the grips. Then, a good coating of epoxy on the inside of the grip and on the blank will make for an excellent install with no hassle. I just ream the grips so that it will JUST slide into its final position without much pressure. Sure, you can stretch the grips as you slide them into place, but why expend the extra effort? None of the other style grips are stretched as they are installed, so why be different with EVA? Good luck Roger Re: EVA grips

I treat EVA exactly like cork. Ream for a nice tight fit.

What`s the best way to ream eva grips? I`ve tried drilling through the hole with moderate success. Re: EVA grips

Peter the Flex Coat bits are the best option, fast easy.
