I have been really intrested in learning how to do the transparent guide wraps, i have bought white slik as that is what i have read works the best, i found at one time a good write up on this site about how to do them but am having tons of trouble getting back to it, what i remember is i could use thinned FC or perma gloss i have perma gloss and would like to know a little more about the process of getting the slik to go completly transparent. THANKS in advance to any and all who can help guide me in the right direction

I use white Gossomer silk thread, then apply a coat of Threadmaster epoxy thinned to almost water consistency with Denatured alcohol. let this cure a couple of days ,the thinning prolongs the curing. Then apply a second unthinned coat. They should completely disappear.

Kevin, Also take a look at the #212 natural silk from FishHawk. It is more popular than white with the bamboo builders for transparent wraps.

The only thread that I could get to go transparent is Pearsall's Gossamer Silk. All other thread that I tried would not go clear for me. This thread could not be seen.

The white Pearsalls Gossamer goes completely clear! I have customers swear that I had not used any thread at all on my clear wraps on both Bamboo and Graphite blanks.

Pearsall's Gossamer or Naples have provided my best results to date.
