I put on the foregrip on my rod tonight with u40 rod bond slid down tot he reel seat but when I let go of it it starts to slowly slide back up twords the tip about 1/2 to 3/4 inch I keep pulling it down and it slowly goes back up? What gives?????

Push it down from the top end, don't pull it from the bottom.

Twist it in opposite direction and pull it apart. If that doesn't work, wrap a big dam of masking tape in front of teh grip so it cannot move up. And make sure you babysit it for an hour to make sur eit doesn't move.

Thanks guys I just pushed it down then threw a clamp in front of it to stop it from moving up! it's been a little over an hour and it has not moved,but I think I will keep the clamp on until morning!

The clamp should work, but I go with what BillyV suggest and tape it up. The cause - is it too tight (not reamed enough)on the blank and the rodbond is pushing it out maybe? I've had it happen before because I did not ream enough and wanted to slide on the epoxy.

Sometimes when the grip is super tight it gets compressed and shortens when pushed down. It needs to return to its original length.

I agree with Fred that the bore is probably too small. If the bore is right, it won't slide. Keep in mind that if it is too tight the forend cork fibers are being stretched, and if too much, it will split. Next time try a less tight fit.

Mike, my post about teisting and pulling it apart was beacus eI ASSumed youwere talking about an EVA grip. Obviously had I known it was cork I wouldn't have told you to do that, sorry. Thi sis why the ionterenet is a great place, and can suck...you could have possibly broke your grip following my advice.

When I instal butt caps, they usually want to back off. I'll put tape from teh grip, around the end of the butt cap, and onto the other side of teh grip (straight, I don't wrap it around). I do the sameon teh side of hte grip, which forms an "X" at the end of the butt cap. I then wrap tape around the circumference of teh grip so the tape doesn't slip off the grip. This prevents the cap from backing off. YOu could do something similar with teh foregrip on the reel seat. Just note that if you put tape on cork it's possible to pull out any filler in teh cork grip

Cork grips should be snug to dry fit, but you shouldn't have to work that hard to get it all to fit nicely. With a snug dry fit, adding epoxy lubes it all up and should slide together nicely. Using a clamp ensures that everything stays in place while it cures. Probably a little more reaming in your case would have been good.

If the adhesive your using is a paste like pro bond, I 've had the same thing happen from compressed air pockets between the recessed grip and reel seat hood. Sometimes is tight is too tight.

When in place i have found that - turning several times -- tends to keep it in place i grab it in the middle of the grip
