Got a rod with a .99 butt and want to slide an eva grip onto it that has an ID of 3/4 will it fit or will I be wasting my time?

Depends on how dense the EVA is. A softer variety might go easily. I'd suggest reaming a bit just to give yourself some margin for error, then using the installation procedure outlined on the FAQs page here.

Jeremy,
Easy solution. Ream out the inside of the grip to .9345 and you will be good to go. A reamer can quickly and easily ream out the inside of a grip to make for a reasonable fit.
No reason to stretch the grip more than just a little bit.

Take care
Roger

I ream them to fit snug. I usually buy the ones that are quite dense and so I usually end up reaming quite a bit. Even when it's just snug it has a tendency to push the glue down with it when it begins to get tight. I start the glue above that point to ensure that glue gets in between the grip and the blank.

I would ream to .9857. IF you can imagine the weight savings you get the idea.

Seriously Jeremy, ream and drop it down the blank. If it stops about an inch from where you want it to reside that will be fine. Just be sure to clear all grit from the inside or you may scratch the blank on the way down.
