You apply almost anything to the seat hoods provided you properly prepare that surface. Consult the online library here for proper surface procedure.

Peter,
I have marbled several seats. The key to graphite seats is to CLEAN them well to remove all the release agent FIRST, then scuff them WELL, use an adhesion promoter, then your topcoat, and your topcoat must be flexible, be it paint or finish or whatever.
