Blank butt extentions

I like to stock up on discount and close-out blanks when I can. Sometimes the action is perfect but the overall length is just short. I would like to make an extention in the desired length that fits inside the main blank. I would fit it as tight as I can and epoxy it in place, and I assume I need to wrap the outer blank to keep it from splitting under pressure correct? I know that adding an extention will change the characteristics of the blank, that doesn't bother me. I tried a search for this topic but came up empty handed. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thank you, Steve Re: Blank butt extentions

I have stretched a few blanks using pieces from old/broken/scrap blanks.
To do this I simple find a scrap piece that fits snugly inside the butt of the blank I'm using and epoxy it in place. Since this extension is inside the handle, or even better inside the reel seat, of the finished product I don't think it effects the action, but it gives me the length that I want.
