Did you CP the thread ?? It will hold the color and not bleed though
With no CP the thread becomes transparent - Try it on one Bill - willierods.com Re: filed guides..

I think he ment that sharpie ink reacted/disolved with the rod finish and stained the blue thread.
various rod finish reacts with certain inks something to do with the chemicals used in them, i cant help you find one that suits your application. Usually i dont paint the guide feet at all i just pack/burnish the thread enough so the guide feet doesnt show through the thread. Like Bill said use cp to help the thread become less transparent. I have used the oil based model airplane paint, usually black and it seems to work fine. Re: filed guides..

I second the pack and burnish. But if youre using a standard nylon thread you will need some CP since you will see a color diference from dark to light. Strong wraps, calm seas Derek Re: filed guides..

I color them with a black sharpie and apply a coat of CP on the guide foot to seal the marker from bleeding thru. Re: filed guides..

I use Testors gloss paint marker - black also. Looks and works like a magic marker, but it is paint. I use it to touch up guides and black decals. I apply rod finish directly over it with no problems. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
