Just curious if anyone has used the glow in the dark thread on a rod build. I was thinking of doing a shark rod next and was thinking of putting in a few accent wraps of glow in the dark thread. My question is what is the average life of the glow in the dark thread? As my rod will be mostly punished with sunny saltwater conditions during the day and long sandy saltwater beach's at night. I just want to make sure repeated exposure to the sun will not fade it or destroy it to quickly. Any input would be amazing. Thanks Re: glow in the dark thread

I had a line on some awsome glow in the dark and color change thread, problem was that once the finish was applied it negated all of the kool properties of those threads so they no longer worked. Thus I never brought them to market.

I have used Coats and Clark Glow thread in white with pretty good results. I used it on 2 catfish rods at the tip. I haven't timed how long the glow will last but you just shine a light on it for a few minutes and it will last quite a while. It still works even with finish over the top of it. I believe most "glow" effect uses UV light to charge the effect so I would suggest doing a test wrap (with your finish) before placing it on the rod. Strong wraps, calm seas Derek Re: glow in the dark thread

You could mix glow in the dark pigment into the epoxy. There would always be some pigment close enough to the surface to charge easily.
