Nice blog entry on the Rodmaker site today. Custom rod builders too often get the short shrift if you know what I mean.

Steve has had a number of very innovative and novel ideas (and has shared many of them in the pages of RodMaker). Like many custom builders, however, he's not made any money on those ideas while others with high profile names or sponsorships have cashed in on those very ideas. In cases like this, the least a guy deserves is credit. Although such credit won't pay the bills, it's nice to get it when deserved.

Did Steve design or go threw all of this for fame and fortune?? No.. I think he did it to better the sport he loves and to build a better rod. I would say if you want fame and $..... Rod building isn't the place too be!! It was a nice article you wrote Tom and yes, well deserved!

Steve deserves credit for numerous innovations and has ALWAYS been quick to share. It's a shame that so many seem to forget the names behind the innovations. Steve is a pioneer in rodbuilding and never stops striving for improvement! I, for one, have learned a lot from him and appreciate what he has done (and is still doing) for the craft.

Looking forward to seeing you in High Point, Steve!

I remember when he proudly walked into the lounge on Friday before the expo many shows ago with the lightest rod he ever built. He was glowing and willing to share it. Stand up guy for sure.
