micro tip tops

I've built a couple rods with size 4.5 micros and used the same size top. Now I see the size 3 micros and want to build with them but I can't seem to find any tip tops the same size. Without looking through all the vendor sponsors, can somebody please tell me where I can purchase size 3 tip tops? I just can't run 3's all the way out and put a 4.5 tip top at the end.

Or, is there a reason you don't go that small on the tip top?

Thanks,

Steve

Yes you can use 3 guides with a 4.5 tip just fine. My favorite micro tip is the #4 Kigan, it has the best brace design with the braces welded onto the side of the tube so they can’t catch the line on the backside of the tube. They also have the best system to hold the ring in, I have never had a ring pop out of a Kigan tip.

Steve -
Kigan's braced micro tops are available in 4 ring. The guide design itself is very streamlined helping create a smaller profile. They are very durable as well. I believe this is one of the smallest braced tops you're going to find.

Swampland has them in stock.

Check out American Tackle micro's, I use the NBRL's size 3 and with a size 4 top, the best I've seen and used. The ATC ring lock guides prevents the ring from popping out.

Lots of rods are built with size 3 micros and a larger tip. Often, the larger tip allows the rod to work even better than if the tip were smaller.

Take care

I also use the Kigans. No failures, 3D pressed ring design. Can't beat em'.

I used Fuji MCAT4.5 and American Tackle NCRLMT 4 without issue and I really like Pacific Bay Micro Top XFXZT4.
