None. If I am interpreting the question right, and it involves printing on peel and stick media, printed by a computer printer, I spray the decals with Papilio or Krylon clear UV protective clear, then cut them out, darken the edges with a sharpie, apply, then just use a little CP, any brand, along the edges to make sure the epoxy doesn't lift the edges. After that, it is just epoxy wrapping finish, and they turn out great. Re: CP over Peel N Stick Decals

I also use decal connection and have for years, and use NO CP on the decal! I put the decal on the first coat of epoxy, after letting the epoxy set overnight and then put on my second coat. Never had any type of problem with this process and excellent results. Re: CP over Peel N Stick Decals

I build fly rods and my last build I went ahead and applied the decal directly to the rod. Is that wrong? I don't know it was an experiment and I had no trouble at all. At least so far but I will keep an eye on that rod to see what happens if any. By the way they are from Decal Connection they do a great job.

Apply decal on top of the first coat of epoxy. This is especially important on matte finish blanks! Re: CP over Peel N Stick Decals

I use many different brands of CP, have found no difference with respect to decal edges. Last rod, Chromaseal, just trying for first time now Cason's Crystal. No results yet, but keep in mind, I only use the CP to seal the edges.
On the comment of putting finish down before applying a peel and stick decal, I believe the matte rod comment is for clear decals only? On my opaque decals, I put them right on the rod, even matte finish rods, and have no problems. On a clear decal, the matte finish might not allow the decal to appear as clear. Right? Yes, the comment does apply to clear decals. When a clear decal is applied directly (no epoxy) to a matte blank, it often appears hazy. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
