I'm in the process of upgrading my workshop with an assortment of power tools.
I'd like to find one or two magazines which help woodworkers the way RodMaker
helps rod builders.

My rod building includes Fly, Switch, Surf and Boat Rods.
Ideally the mags will focus on the types of skills applicable to rod building.

It may not be exactally what youre looking for, but when I did a google search the 4th or 5th link down was a magazine for woodturning, and there were plenty of books to go along with that trade listed on that site too.

WoodTurning Design should be a must if you want to learn more about woodturning.

Better Homes and Gardens "Wood" magazine is a very good all-around wood working publication.

"Fine Woodworking" is a great general wood working magazine, as well as on-line how to's and articles.

You can save some space by attaching a benchdog router table to the side of your table saw(mine is the Dewalt DW746)....which is what I did. I mounted a porter cable 7518 router in it. I also bought a disc sander that fits in place of your table saw blade. Double sided with 2 different grits.

If space is not an option....the more the merrier!

I prefer WOOD magazine. They usually have some good reviews on the tool categories you mention above.

Space and good layout is a concern but it's not cramped.
I dedicated a 13' X 13' bedroom for the power tool workshop.
If necessary I can create another 10' X 8' work area by taking over the "eat-in" half of the kitchen.
This area would be best for operations which don't generate dust.
Once I get it all done I'll post photos.

I do all my rod wrapping and epoxy work in a different room.

Fine wood working "tools edition". If your not sure about quality, check out lee valley from canada they don't sell junk. My go to store for hand tools.
