I'm in the process of upgrading my workshop with an assortment of power tools.
I'd like to find one or two magazines which help woodworkers the way RodMaker
helps rod builders.

Current Tools:
Jet 1014 Lathe w/ Oneway Talon Chuck
Sorby Turning Tools
Tormek Supergrind 2000 Sharpening System
Grizzly Benchtop Drill Press
Ryobi 6" Dual Bench Grinder
Dremel Tool + accessories
Dremel Drill Press
Hitachi 10" Bevel Miter Saw
Shop Vac
2 Dewalt 12V 3/8" Drills

Tools in my future include:
14" Band Saw (Grizzly GO555)
Dewalt 10" Portable Contractor Saw (DW745)
4"X36" Bench Top Belt Sander ... TBD
1"X42" Bench Top Belt Sander... TBD
Router... TBD
Router Table ... TBD
Porter Cable Metal PC14CTSD 14" Chop Saw
PSI Buffing System
JET Air FiltrationSystem
Air Cleaner
Makita 7-1/4" Circular Saw (5007MG)

My rod building includes Fly, Switch, Surf and Boat Rods.
Ideally the mags will focus on the types of skills applicable to rod building.

It may not be exactally what youre looking for, but when I did a google search the 4th or 5th link down was a magazine for woodturning, and there were plenty of books to go along with that trade listed on that site too.

Strong wraps, calm seas

WoodTurning Design should be a must if you want to learn more about woodturning.

Better Homes and Gardens "Wood" magazine is a very good all-around wood working publication.

"Fine Woodworking" is a great general wood working magazine, as well as on-line how to's and articles.

Thanks for the tips.

I stumbled upon Wood Mag's Online Forum and it looks helpful as well.

I'll start with Wood Mag and Woodturning Design.

You can save some space by attaching a benchdog router table to the side of your table saw(mine is the Dewalt DW746)....which is what I did. I mounted a porter cable 7518 router in it. I also bought a disc sander that fits in place of your table saw blade. Double sided with 2 different grits.

If space is not an option....the more the merrier!

I prefer WOOD magazine. They usually have some good reviews on the tool categories you mention above.

Space and good layout is a concern but it's not cramped.
I dedicated a 13' X 13' bedroom for the power tool workshop.
If necessary I can create another 10' X 8' work area by taking over the "eat-in" half of the kitchen.
This area would be best for operations which don't generate dust.
Once I get it all done I'll post photos.

I do all my rod wrapping and epoxy work in a different room.
