Rod Drying Motor Wont Shut Off on PB Lathe?

My drying motor on my Pac Bay Lathe wont turn off.... It keeps spinning and spinning and spinning. Nothing but problems with this lathe. Dont mean to bash it but, what on earth is going on? The only way it turns off is if unplug the entire thing. I can use the wrapping motor still, but its annoying having the rod drying motor spin.

Sounds like the switch went bad.

I feel sure that if you give Pacific Bay a call, they'll do whatever is necessary to get you a new switch for the dryer portion.

Mr. Nakash,
I haven't heard of this particular issue before with the lathe. We would be very interested in getting the part back for evaluation. Just give us a call and we'll get a return authorization set up for you asap. 800-447-0089. Thanks.

Geoff, I would love to give you a call but the problem is that I have come down with a case of strep throat and my voice sounds like a scratchy record. Thats the only reason I'm on the computer today, and decided to post.

Can we take this over email? Or maybe i can call another time?

Thanks for being considerate.

Gabe,
You also can just go to your local hardware store and pick up a $3 on off toggle switch and save the hassle of switch return and replacement.
If you were close, I would give you one from my spare parts box.

That lathe uses a 3 position switch.cI believe the proper terminology is double pole double throw switch. An on off switch will not allow you to select which motor you want to use.

If you need a three position switch, then just go go your local hardware store and pick up a double pole double throw toggle switch from your local hardware store for $6. Home Depot also has these swithes for about $6.

Good luck
Roger
