Removing a reel seat and grips HELP !!!

I was given a nice st croix blank. The previous owner put the grips and reel seat on and never finished it. Well he put to small of a reel seat on. It is a smaller pac bay reel seat and when I put a med size spinning reel 10 -12 lb test size it just dont seem to fit tight it kinda wobles side to side in the reel seat. This is a beautiful green pearl blank and I dont want to see it wasted so I want to remove the forgrip and reel seat and replace it whit a little bigger/nicer one. Any help on how I should approach this task would be great.

You could cut down the side of it with a Dremel and the peel it off with pliers or a screwdriver. Be careful not to bump the blank though.

As stared above split and pry it apart. As for the grip if it is a foam type grip you can use a piece of braid fishing line between two pencils and use it as a saw to shave off the grip. It won't be useable but this is the safest way for the blank. Once the seat and grip are off a little heat will soften the epoxy and it will peel off with a little help from a plastic knife or scraper.

Just like instructed above, just a note: if you use a Dremel with a cut off wheel, go slow and don't go all the way through. You don't want to hit the blank. Once you have a cut the length of the grip you can use pliers or a screwdriver to split it open and peel it off. Just be patienat. Have fun.

I do the same as said above only with a small difference, i use a hand saw because i have more control in the cut.

I have removed a few reel seats with the dremel but if your seat is really close to the blank then that would make me nervous on a high end blank. You could use a hacksaw and cut a spiral groove around the seat. Don't cut too deep. You only need enough depth to fit a flat blade screwdriver in the slot. Insert the screwdriver and twist. Do this sequentially around the seat and the seat will split into two pieces.
