2 piece to 4 piece?

I have a 9' 6" 9wt 2 piece fly rod that is a pain to try and travel (fly) with! Thinking of attempting to make it a 4 piece. My question is; if I can find the correct taper solid fiberglass blank or used rod, can it be used to successfully make spigot ferrules?
Any cautions or lessons learned? Re: 2 piece to 4 piece?

Oversleeve ferrules will be your better bet.
However, due to the work involved, you may be better served by purchasing a 4-piece blank and starting fresh. ............ Re: 2 piece to 4 piece?

Phil,
I did exactly that with a 10ft 7wt. Used scrap grafite blank pieces. Doubled shafted about 7" to 8" long, half in half out. It has become my regular Steelhead rod. Performs very well. Took about 3hrs and I had never done it before. John JLS Custom Rods Cassadaga, NY Re: 2 piece to 4 piece?

Thanks Tom! I have a couple of 4pc already, was more interested in the technique and project then anything else. The thought came to me as a way of possibly converting the rod. It is an older Powell and I love the action, but not the hassle! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
