Hold it in your hand and have someone blow on the end of it, now you make the call. Guess why? Sensitivity is a "subjective" term. Re: Blank Sensitivity

I like to hold the butt end and drag the tip across carpet with my eyes closed. Have someone hand you a blank to compare. _________________________________________ "Angling is extremely time consuming. That's sort of the whole point." - Thomas McGuane Re: Blank Sensitivity

Snyder Rods "feel the bite" sensitivity test - take two blanks - hold them vertically, one in each hand, slightly above the floor - drop them butt-first onto a solid concrete, terrazzo or similar floor - tile will work but not as well - whichever one has the higher tone wins. Re: Blank Sensitivity

The problem with most of the so called sensitivity tests performed in the tackle shops is that a broom handle will typically test out as well as an expensive graphite rod.

Jon,
The best way to determine blank sensitivity is to build a rod on the blank, take it fishing and see how the rod catches fish for you. Any thing else is really a guess, a thought, a feel, a subjective incident, a trial etc. etc. Bottom line, sensitivity is so subjective and is different for so many different folks - even folks who use scientific means, that it is a subject that is best left for the individual person to figure out. i.e. figure out a system that makes sense for the rods that you currently use for fishing and then translate the results of your fishing results to a method that you as the user of a blank can translate to an individual method. Good luck Roger Re: Blank Sensitivity

I agree. very subjective. What may regard as sensitive may be different to what you may regard as sensitive. Re: Blank Sensitivity

Use a bobber - or a strike indicator - or a circle hook. Less than a buck for any of these and they will out perform the most "sensitive" [and expensive] blank made. Or learn to watch your line. Re: Blank Sensitivity

Thanks for all the tips. I knew when I posted it this was a tough subject. I guess the final verdict is what you feel when fishing with one.
The problem there is the line being used has a lot to do with what you feel. Any way thanks again this has been helpful. Tight Lines..... Re: Blank Sensitivity

Jon, maybe you should ask what brands are your most sensitive rods?
I'm more of a salt water guy but I'd say St. Croix has always delivered in that area for me. It really depends more on which model from a given company but still croix has been good to me (not to say others have not). Russ in Hollywood, FL. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
