It's been a while since I've built a fishing rod and I'm getting back into it. I have an unopened 2oz Flex Coat High Build kit that's a few years old. Is it OK to use it, or should I buy a new kit? The resin looks clear, and the hardener is a little yellowish.

I have never seen it go bad.

I'm with Roger on that. The yellowing hardener is normal. If your worried about it try it on a test wrap and see how it turns out.

Usually if something has a shelf life it is listed on the pachaging some where in a date code at minimum, I havent seen anything like that on liquid epoxy.

It will still set and cure just fine. There is no appreciable shelf life on epoxy.

You can buy new, but it will eventually yellow as well, either in the bottle or on the rod.

I have flex coat high and light build sitting next to each other. The high build is at least two years old. The resin will crystalize and become solid. A few 8-10 second
zaps, between cooling time, in the microwave returns it to it's liquid state and it performs just fine.

I put it in hot tap water , let set in water 10 min. or so then shake till it comes clear, works well.
