the spline of a center pin rod

when building a center pin rod, do you buld on the spline or 180 degs or is it up to the bulder ????/

It won't make any difference, so it's up to the builder. Many, including myself, disregard the spine totally. There is no right nor wrong way to orient the spine on any rod.

That article is interesting. What has me courious is what about flexability? Did the test group that broke at the 22 lb average flex farther than the group that broke at the 23 lb range? I would think that would be the case but have no first hand proof, and that too may be so minimal that it doesnt really matter.

Not exactly, but they did flex the same amount/distance under less load if it makes the picture more clear. This becomes obvious once you consider that on that particular axis they're less stiff.
