Many are. PermaGloss and Lumaseal are both urethanes. For depth, they require many more applications than epoxy (3 to 10).

Tom - I looked in the library without luck. Can you (or anyone) refer me to a do's and don't's article on Perma Gloss similar to the how to articles on two part epoxies. I would like to make a rod with a old school very light build, but I want to avoid a mucked up finish.
Thanks in advance. Re: wrap finish

There isn't much to say about PermaGloss or Lumaseal. They're one part so there isn't anything to mix. Like Epoxy, don't brush them around, just load the brush, lower to the wrap and rotate the rod underneath the brush. Move over and repeat.
They're thin enough and set quickly enough that they generally don't require any sort of continual rotation. ............ Re: wrap finish

The first time I tried PermaGloss, I managed to dissolve a decal I had put on the blank. I think urethanes and decals are not compatible unless some sort of sealer is used. But, I could have just done it wrong!:)

Finishes with solvents in them are not generally safe to use directly over decals.
