I am thinking of building a crappie rod from a Batson RX-7 4-6lb Popping rod blank. I want to use it for pitching small crappie jigs. Any thoughts on how it woud work? I have made a couple similar rods, made to 7 foot and they work very well indeed for crappie.
The original use was for a Walleye rigging rod, but they work equally well for jig pitching to crappies. They also work well with the addition of a bobbe to use a bobber with the jigs. Good choice. Roger Re: Popping blank for crappie

I use an ISP783F and I absolutely love it. I set it up with a tennessee style handle, split grip etc. Great rod.

Generally speaking...Popping blanks will work well for Crappie rods.
Shikari PP7000 and Loomis GLX P8400 for my two rods. ........................................ Better to have and not need than to need and not have. Re: Popping blank for crappie
