Colors for thread and hardware for SCIV fly rod blank

I have not seen the Burgandy SCIV yet and was wondering what others have used. I am thinking black guides and reel seat with a reddish colored insert and wraps to match blank or black. What color combos have you used?

The blank is a pretty deep burgundy. Garnet thread would be the closest match. I'd consider that trimmed with yellow or goldenrod.

Thanks Tom,

Garnet is one of my favorite colors. I might sub gold inlays for the yellow.

What type of wood insert would you suggest for black AUS hardware?

Brighter would give you more contrast against the blank. Tulipwood has burgundy grain figure. It might be a good match.

My two favorites on that color blank would be Garnet or a Dark Brown with or without color preserver, then trim with something that will match with the wood that you are using for your insert. Like gold trim with a curly maple or black ash insert. If your really not sure, just do a couple of test wraps on the butt section where your reel seat and grip are going, then just remove them once you have made your mind up. Fishhawk has a real nice shade of Garnet. Should look pretty sharp with black hardware, although you might like a blued or shiney gunsmoke hardware too. Many options!

Pro Wrap Metallic has a burgundy as well as several purples for a color color choice. As an alternative, you could go pale gold.
