Hercules INshore Heavy, I have them in stock always. 7'2. I also have the 8'er in stock. Right here> [northeastrodbuilders.com] << Perfect for cork since the diameter is about .75 at teh butt. I'm doing a gathering next week, you should try to come out and check the blank out, I'm right across the water from you. Re: Looking for a jigging blank

The inshore heavy that Billy speaks off is a great choice I have two of them one trimmed an inch from the tip and extended to 7.5 feet handles jigs to 16 if need be and sinkers to 20 no prob. also have one uncut and built to the 7'2" it comes at also great and it to can handle the 16 but it is pushing it 12-14 feels great 200z sinkers if needed. Billy also has another great option in The Montauk super cod by Seeker I have built a few of them and it is another winner. The supercod is a great choice as it could be cut to any desirable feel. the inshore heavy is a more versatile blank as it could be used for many different fishing aplications, obviosly if your friend is a cod fisherman hes in the north east so he could also fish stripers, Blues and just about all bottom fishing we do. Anyway he will be happy with any of those options. Good luck with it. Re: Looking for a jigging blank

WIth Orange grips, the regular Super Seeker brown color would be perfect. Guess who still has 2 Inshore Heavies in stock in reddish Brown? This color was discontinued last year, I bought the last batch of them and these are hte last 2 left, once they are gone they are gone Re: Looking for a jigging blank

Bill I would not recomend a cod jigging rod that short. will he be fishing private boat or party boats. length will be different. 7.5-8 for party boats 7ish for private. Re: Looking for a jigging blank

he will be doing boats Said a 7.5 Thats in the middle
Also with 50 braid in the American tackle Virtus heavy do you think an 8 is good Or go 10's He will have a leader going thought the rings Thanks Bill - willierods.com Re: Looking for a jigging blank

At least a 7.5' from the party boats. My brother in-law runs the Vking Fleet out of Montauk and I have done a few personal rods for him. One other thing to consider for your build is the longer butt grip so it can be snugged up under the arm pit or when you jig the rod with hands far apart. Next couple I build will probably be on the Hercules blank. Funny about the cork. Guys out there love their cork. BTW, just got back late last night from a week up there and cod are showing if you can get through the giant porgies and the black sea bass. Water was 48-50 still which is hard to imagine. Any one using them any problems Bill - willierods.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
