Calling all Canadians (especially GTA)

Transportation & brokerage charges for products coming from US suppliers are driving me into the ground. I try to do most of my buying from Rodbuilder Supplies in Victoria but even so, I'm not able to "optimize" my shipping costs; by buying many blanks at once, for example. Not only that, but they can't carry EVERYTHING and you're forced south. Shipping charges alone are averaging me more the 30% of the order value. Add the HST and brokerage fee and I'm able to buy a pretty nice commercial rod for the $ I have tied up in one of my custom numbers!

Is there any interest from builders (or POTENTIAL builders) in creating and participating in a buying co-op so we can pool orders and hopefully save some $$????

I know what you mean. I order Torpedo tips from Ontario, they run me about $25 each. The first time I ordered two, $101.50 was my bill with shipping and taxes. Now I get creative to get them.

I am in Bowmanville. The HST is always there. Unless you get stuff sent usps which sometimes slips it through but this does not work for blanks.

I have been ordering from Andy at rodbuilder supplies as well. I hope to go to HighPoint in February. For some supplies, especially older Gudebrod thread, Try Angling Specialties. The worst part is I am about 15 minutes from a border crossing and still don't order via a UPS store :(
