Anyone heard of an Allen brand fly blank? If so, is this just a private lable of another brand?
Thanks. Re: Allen Fly Blank

I just looked them up. 1st time i have ever heard of them. I looked at their prices and for the money i would stay with a Batson. I am in love with their fly rod blanks. That all my buddies and i use in Alaska. Very tough and a great all around blank for a great price! Kevin Gross Many men will spend their whole life wondering if they made a difference. thanks. I've been using the St Croix SCii/SCiv for 2 and 3 weight rods and love them. Re: Allen Fly Blank

Wasn't it you that was asking about the difference between the Batson RX6 and The RX7 just last week? Just by looking at the Allen website for the first time you can make this recomendation? I haven't used their blanks but I have purchased a few other things from them and I've been happy with my purchases. In fact, 2 of their reels and a bunch of fly tying hooks should be delivered today. I haven't seen many reviews on the rods they have because they are new but I'd be interested in trying the blanks. With all that said, I am fairly skeptical of the specs they have posted for those blanks. Using the 9 ft 5 wt 4 piece blank as a representative, they list a blank weight of .82 oz for their "Myth" blank and .99 oz for their Xa series blank. For comparison, the Batson RX7 is listed at 1.62 oz, the Orvis Helios blank is listed at 1.25 oz, the St Croix SCV with the NSi resin is listed at 1.6 oz, the TFO BVK blank is listed at 1.7 oz. Like I said though, acknowledging that their data is likely way off, I'd still like to cast one for myself because I've been happy with their other stuff.
