Can I get the same effect using Madeira #40 that I could get with regular Nylon "A" ? Has anyone made a Tiger Wrap with Madeira ?
I have a client wanting one made with Neon Green top color if I can find that thread. J.B.Hunt Bowling Green, KY Re: Tiger Wrap question

Thanks Mike. The Flo Green color is what I was looking for, not Neon. I was concerned about the Madeira thread being too slick to burnish properly. I have always used Nylon for Tiger Wraps with good results. J.B.Hunt Bowling Green, KY Re: Tiger Wrap question

Thanks Doc, you are a wealth of information on the tiger wraps !
Here 's my problem; The blank is a Black Lami . I showed my client , what I called, Flo Orange Madeira (col # 1987). He wants a Flo Green Tiger Wrap with the Flo Orange trim bands. I don't have the Flo Green Madeira but I think I know where I can get it. My thoughts were to use Black and White NCP for under wrap and Flo Green and a sacrificial for the over wrap. I want to see primarily Flo Green. What are your thoughts on this combination? And what would you suggest . J.B.Hunt Bowling Green, KY Re: Tiger Wrap question

The top color will be the primary color in the wrap. The bottom colors are mainly to determine contrast and whether the wrap will be more subtle or more distinct. B&W on the bottom will make for a very distinct top color and pattern, with green being primary.

Thanks Tom. That's what I needed to know. I guess I am still a little gun-shy with my Tiger Wraps. J.B.Hunt Bowling Green, KY Re: Tiger Wrap question

Madeira makes the most wicked tigers. I like to use Madeiera and a NCP on bottom and Madeira on top with sac thread. I have an aggie rod in the photo section or you could check out my facebook page for several photos. Triton Custom Fishing Rods. I try to make all mine with Madeira.
