I did an open wrap design on a rod and used color preserver on the threads and tried to be careful not to get any on the blank in the open areas. It seems almost impossible not to get the CP on the blank. I must add that the blank was an Emerald green color. The CP dulled the shine on the blank. Does the shine come back if you epoxy over it, or do you try to somehow clean it off or do you just try harder not to let any CP touch the blank in the open areas of an open wrap design ? Thanks. I usually do an underwrap so I never had to deal with this issue before. Re: Color preserver on open wraps

It should be fine once you put the rod finish on. I usually do open wraps, and while I try to not get a lot of cp on the blank, I've never had a problem with the cp that did end up on the blank. The first time I did an open wrap, I cp'ed both the blank and the threads. It came out fine. Re: Color preserver on open wraps

Thanks for the replys spent a lot of time on the design, didn't want to redo it. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
