I just got done with 2 coats of ThreadMaster lite, would that be enough?, the ones toward the tip still look like they could use more, looks like the threads are just barely covered, and the ones toward the butt, are just the way I want them to be. i guess thats just the way I look at it.

Feel with your fingers. Can you feel any texture of the thread or any nubs? If not you are fine. Another coat can be added in a year or five if needed.

lorenzo

i use t. m. lite. i just got done putting on a second coat. i usually put on two light coats - shave off any nubs or bumps - then put on a third light coat.

i usually do 2 coats of tm lite. usually the opposite problem though, the butt area or decals need 2 minimum, the tip sometimes only needs one. you can put it on 'thick' either coat, just distribute it evenly, it will lay down smooth.

-Justin

If some look like they need more, put another thin coat on them there's no rules to how many must be put on or that you have to put another coat on all of the wraps. Just add where you think it needs it.

I usually end up with 3 or 4 thin coats when it's all complete. My 1st coat is always very thin. After I trim any bumps that I find, I'll add the second coat. Decals and rod labels are generally 3 thin coats. What's important to me is what I prefer, and more importantly covering the thread work evenly.

I've never seen the need to use more than two coats but then again I apply a bit more than needed initially but then I use an alcohol lamp and warm up the finish and then rotate, wick off the bottom, warm, rotate, wick off the bottom, and they wind up looking great for a hack rod builder such as myself.
