What should I do? Thin coat of epoxy and sand to fit, only thing that I can think of.
Thanks for the help

Just how are you putting the 2 pieces together? You should not just push the parts together you need to do it with a slight twist in the 2 pieces as you assemble them..

That'd be my suggestion but you'll never get it back apart apart again.

Try putting a small piece of small diameter mono in the ferrule.

Try cleaning BOTH sides of the ferrule.
It does not take much to keep them from joining completely.
And if you do the "twist", just be gentle.

Best wishes,

Integral ferrules are designed to be brought together until just snug, and then twisted, very snugly, until they are tight.

What type ferrule do you have? Tip over butt, tip into butt, or a plug/spigot type?

Something is getting lost in translation. The two pieces need to connect somewhow.

Does the tip of the rod slide over the butt? (tip over butt)
Does the tip of the rod slide into the butt? (tip into butt, butt over tip)
is there a section of rod that slides into either section where the rod is smaller that the each fo the sections?(spigott [www.rodbuilding.org] )

Right, you've got a ferrule, it's just integral as part of the rod.

RM magazine covered this a while back, also search for "ferrule repair." Don't add adhesive, epoxy, any substance until you find out how to do it right. If you have the integral ferrule, like Tom mentions, a simple trim will fix it. And the proper technique for putting the rod together is important.
