Fuji Cermet Tops

Wow, it's been a long time. Had a rod come in for some work a couple days ago, it's an old custom sporting frosted Ti cermets. The rod is a jigging style spin rod, with a tip diameter of 3.4mm, and the ring required is either a 10mm or 12 mm ring. Unfortunately, it transpired that when it was built, there was either a really long wait for the correct size tip, or it was unavailable in the size they wanted. The builder put on a gunsmoke SiC tip, which the customer was EXTREMELY unhappy about, because it does not match the rest of the guide train.

Having looked about, the only cermet tips I can find are the smaller ring/ lighter frame and tube combinations. Further digging led me to Matagi, which has the larger tip, but only in the normal pipe and light pipe setups. Ideally I'd like to put a heavy duty MN or MG style tip to it. Does such a beast exist?

Hi Ted,

Although I'm not saying I'm the final word on this, I think you will be out of luck. For the past 4-5 years I've been trying to keep myself up to date on Fuji Japan's website, particularly with the Ti Cermets, knowing that not everything makes ti to the US where I am. I can't recall ever seen the "MN" styling in a Cermet. I have a customer in Australia who loves the Cermets, just cleaned me out of my last ones. I'll email him for you, and see if he knows of anything, and give him your email addy

Hi Ted,
They don't make the Cermets anymore. The biggest Cermet tips have an 8 sized ring I think!!
