I built the 10'8" 7 wt. Not the 8 wt though. If there are any specific questions regarding the 7wt that might apply to your 8 wt, fire away. Re: rainshadow switch

I have the 10'8" 8wt built by a friend. It is very versatile. I use it for steelhead and redfish. I love it and would recommend it. Re: rainshadow switch

I've built two of them. Use them for Salmon River NY (kings, coho, steel and brown). I have a 450 gr skagit, 6wt speydicator and a 400 gr "switch" line for it.
One was built with single foot ceramics and the other with REC recoil guides. Would not recommend the ceramics if you plan on fishing in the winter. Makes a great short spey rod. What information are you looking for? Quinn Re: rainshadow switch

if used as an overhead rod is it rated medium fast. I built a 10ft sciv 8wt by st croix and liked the action but found the finish a little soft. I also am looking at 11ft tfo switch.I will use for steelhead and salt water overhead for reds and seatrout and such. Re: rainshadow switch

Bill,
You did keep the tip of your rod didn't you? If you kept the tip, it is only about a 10 minute job to repair the rod. Take care Roger Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
