epoxy on aluminum

Just curious if anyone here hasv ever epoxied over bare aluminum. I have a Lamiglas 961XH musky rod and a Shimano Cardiff waiting to be paired up. I was thinking about a polished clear coated aluminum butt grip.

Thanks.

Epoxy isn't really made for that sort of thing. It will scratch, perhaps peel. I think you want to look at urethanes or acrylic lacquers.

John,

If you remember some of the magazine wheels of the 1980's and early 90's that had a kind of thick glossy coating...that was epoxy.
it was durable, but did yellow and would Peel when nicked or heavily scuffed.
The hot ticket now is clear powder coat. Very durable never yellows. Tough as nails.
If you have a powdercoater in your area you're in.
If not, a Google search will give you supplies and shops.

Good luck,

Always learning with
Ohio Rod Builders
