I am doing a light spinning rod with split grip. I want to do a tiger wrap between the split. This rod will be wrapped in green and white purl metallic. I need suggestions for the colors I should use for the base wrap and the over wrap. I want the green and white to show through. Mike Bradfrod R.M.B. Use NCP A white and green A on bottom and green on top with CP. Using NCP white really makes them look good. I like to use Madeira for the colored thread. It seems the slight difference in size between the threads gives great movement. Re: Tiger wrap questions.

I would use white and black on the bottom. Maximimum contrast! Move it around a good amount to get the 'wavy effect'. Put at least 2 coats of finish on that underwrap. Wrap the opposite way with a green nylon and sacrificial thread for the top wrap. Pull out the sacrificial thread. Put cp on the top green wrap. Then cover with a couple of coats of finish. Should be a beautiful Green tiger at this point! Good wrapping!?! Re: Tiger wrap questions.

Yep, Steve is right on.... I'm in the process of finishing a rod wrapped in green. Tiger wrap in the split grip - used black/white for the base wrap, 2 coats of expoxy, and green with sacrificial thread on top. Came out very nicely. Re: Tiger wrap questions.

Just me, but when I wrap metallic and another color for the base i use non-metallic on top and seem to get the best results. Also I have not been real happy wiht a pearl metallice as a base, seem to get a green or purple hue(unless that's what your looking for). Black and white nylon base is always the best for me in terms of contrast, although I just did a black nylon and gold metallic base and dark green nylon on top and was wowed by the effect! Since I have never seen a tiger wrap in person, and am having trouble visualizing all of this, I need to ask:: Where do the colors come from? I am wanting a green and white tiger wrap. some have suggested a black and white underwrap and a green overwrap. I was thinking that doing the underwrap in green and metallic pearl without cp, and then doing the overwrap in green with cp, would give me the green and white I am looking for. I just looked at a picture of a tiger wrap that was done with a black and white underwrap and a green overwrap, and it showed up as green and white. I am very confused. Mike Bradfrod R.M.B. If you want green and white, do not use black as an under wrap. Use white and green. Either NCP white or metallic. Here is a link to a maroon and white. It is NCP white and Madeira maroon with Maroon on top. Search my other pics and you will see a orange and silver metallic under and orange on top. I just did a NCP green and HT gold, but I can't remember what my bottom colors are. I think I used Green NCP and HT gold. It looked OK, but I don't really like the NCP on top. Best to use regular with CP.

I now have 12" of scrap blank wrapped to do a test. I have one section wrapped with black and pearl, one long section that is dark green and pearl, and another section that is the new Pro-Wrap Twist in green and silver.I marked the blank so that I could turn it 1/8 of a turn, and burnish with a ><>< motion, and then turn it an 1/8th, and burnish in a <><>motion. I can not see any movement in the black and pearl or green and pearl. The Twist has a very interesting pattern after burnishing. I am going to CP half of the green wrap, and half of the Twist wrap, and then run epoxy on the whole thing. I will do the over wrap with dark green and CP. Wish me luck Mike Bradfrod R.M.B.
