Determining Lure weight

How do you determine the best lure weights for a rod? I know the line rating ( 10-20 lb), but I do not know what the lure weight will be for this rod. The rod is 6'6" and slightly stiff.

Take a look at Dr. Hanneman's Common Cents System at this link.

If you read through it you'll get to Chart C on page 8 which gives you a good idea of a rods lure weight range for casting and spinning rods.

Thanks,
Chad Huderle

The URRS, which takes into account tip power, is going to be a bit better at that.
