I want to state that i am a newbie. On my wraps I applied 3 coats of TP, and I have applied 1 coat of epoxy thin formula. I notice some white spots on a couple of the wraps. Any idea to what this may be? I don,t have a camera or I would post a picture. Once fully cured, can this finish be lightly sanded and redone Please advise Thanks fellows. Re: epoxy defects ???

TP? do you mean CP (Color Protector)?
Make sure you give it enough time to dry, the epoxy could be picking up the wet CP. Re: epoxy defects ???

Paul,
Normally white spots indicate trapped moisture. Take care Roger Re: epoxy defects ???

Without a picture everything is only a guess.
Could be: dust specks from something white in the area color preserver hardened spec's specs from epoxy that are not in liquid form many things..... Sanding and re-coating will not make the white specs go away if they are deep in the finish. Remove and re-wrap the guides that have issues and finish her up right. If you think the white specs are near the surface of the finish, try taking a razor blade and shaving them out. If they can be shaved out, all you need to do is re-coat the area with new finish. No sanding is needed unless your finish cures and sets hard for a couple days. Then just lightly scuff the area to be refinished. DR Re: epoxy defects ???

How long did you let the CP dry before putting the finish on Should have been all night even if you put in on during the day Bill - willierods.com Re: epoxy defects ???

I'm with Duane, you're best bet of correcting the problem will be in cutting the offending wraps off and starting over. Re: epoxy defects ???

It sounds like a color preserver not being dry enough as I have done this lots of time in my many years of rod wrapping, one thing that I do that tends to help is after I apply color preserver I let my rod turn for about 2 hours to even over night before I give it another shot of CP with 2 to 3 coats of CP for the most parts.
