A guy contacted me with a request to add a reel seat to a jigs stick he has. I am thinking the only right way to do this for him is to completely remove all guides to be able to add the hypalon and reel seat the correct way. is there any other way to do this or is this the best way to do it.
Thanks everyone Jeff Re: New reel seat question

Jeff,
A much easier way to add a reel seat is to take off the rear grip - generally cut it off. Cut off the existing reel seat. Add an arbor of an appropriate material to the rod blank. Glue on the new reel seat. and then make an appropriate arbor for the butt section so that the entire butt section behind the reel seat is the same size. Then, bore a new grip to the same size as the rear arbor. Install and glue on the new butt cap and an appropriate butt cap. Take care Roger Re: New reel seat question

You can save all that guide removal buy putting it on from the butt end
After cleaning all off Slide the new seat where it will sit make arbors with three ( 3 ) turnings of 1/4" tape One on each end maybe 1/4" in from the end and another in the middle Do the forward one make it fit - snug - then figure the center - then the butt of the seat load with rod bond turn as you put the seat on let dry Then do the same with the butt handle Unless he will pay you for taking the guides off and re wrapping them Bill - willierods.com Edited 1 time(s). To me "Jig Stick" is a bass rod and most likely has an exposed blank seat. Then again, it may be a saltwater jigging rod. Need more info. ----------------- AD Re: New reel seat question

If that is the case then just add the labor for striping and rewrapping the guides Bill - willierods.com Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
