Keeping White Thread White !

Getting ready to start my next project. It is a salt water blank which is black and I will be using a lot of white thread mostly size A for base wraps and trim bands.
I plan on using NCP white and about 3 coats of Chroma Seal color preserver. Will this be enough to keep the white threads white or are there some further precautions I can or should take to ensure keeping them as white as possible ?
Any input or suggestions or input is appreciated

Thank you,
Tom

NCP thread, and color preserver. sounds good to me. if you dont want to use CP you can do silver underwraps. it will stand out

Paint under the wraps with white or silver paint first....then wrap.....

I would say a combination of both, or even another tactic. Personally, I build 2-3 white/white rods a month, so working with it has become old hat. I am doing one now with white trim bands on a black blank. NCP is fine, but the Chromoseal isn't needed. If you are doing the rod with 2 layers of overwraps, do your first layer with trim bands and apply a coat of finish. Then let dry overnight and then come back after it dries and then apply your second layer (With trim bands) right over top of it. That said, the rod I am doing now, I don't need to apply the trim bands again as they came out crisp and white.

Hope this helps. Any questions, call me and I can help further.

Paint or underwrap the white wrap area would be the route I would go.

Tom
the problem isn't keeping the thread white but keeping the finish clear virtually all the two part finishes will amber over time, the only rod I have ever seen after time to keep white is one Tom Kirkman displays at ICRBE maybe he will disclose his secret

Threadmaster stays clear. I have 4 year rods out there that are still white.

silver sharpie under light thread keeps them nice and bright. lot easier than paint also.

Don't forget; as you're wrapping the white thread, wash your hands well and often.
