Wondering if anybody has any experiance with the Pac Bay Channel Lock slim spinning reel seat. Had ordered another style anadized aluminum seat and found that it had quite a bit wobble. Thats my main concern with the Pac Bay, does it really lock down and solid? I'm building a 7' medium fast rod and need an aluminum blue and silver seat. Any other suggestions if not the Pac Bay. Thanks. Re: anyone use pacbay channel lock spin seat?

They have wider and deeper hoods and will accommodate large reel feet, but with smaller reels, there may be too much wobble. Mudhole has their Project X reel seat in blue/silver that has more normal sized hoods that may work. What reel are you using? Re: anyone use pacbay channel lock spin seat?

I use them fairly regular for an inshore guide around here. He prefers the double locking nuts available on these seats & he's yet to have a problem with them loosening during a charter.
Personally, for the type of rod I build him, I don't care for them but they're not exactly light tackle. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/30/2011 08:04AM by matthew jacobs. Re: anyone use pacbay channel lock spin seat?

I love them for the surf rods I build. Yes they are heavier than graphite but also much stronger IMO Re: anyone use pacbay channel lock spin seat?

I have the Project X that is mentioned. I'm using a Penn Battle 4000 and it wobbles pretty bad. I would rather just use a fuji graphite but my buddy is set on he custom look of the aluminum seats. The one I'm looking at is the "slim" version, hopefully its not too much overkill. The wobble is what I'm most concerned about. By the way, I have both sizes of the Project X seat, not much difference. Re: anyone use pacbay channel lock spin seat?

If you can build up under the reel feet with some thing like may be thin plastic you should be able to make it fit better Bill - willierods.com Re: anyone use pacbay channel lock spin seat?

I have the slim Pac Bay Channel Lock in size 18 and mounted to it is an Okuma ABF 50. It has double locking rings, but they seem to not stay put as well as they should. Re: anyone use pacbay channel lock spin seat?

I also prefer to mount them locking down from the top. Seems to me this works better with all reel seats Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
