I wrapped a rod with NCP size C Gudebrod scarlet. Used same thread for under wrap and double top wrap. Applied Flexcoat CP and when I applied the finish I noticed that it 's kind of milky looking. I let the CP dry overnite. What am I doing wrong? Did I put to much CP on? Re: Hazy thread color using CP

Why did you use CP with NCP thread? Also, you may have not mixed the finish long enough. Did it look milky before you put the finish on? If not, then it sounds to me like it's the finish itself. If you used Flexcoat finish, you have to mix it really well. It goes from clear to hazy/milky and then back to clear. I believe that the mix time on it is 4 minutes recommended. NCP on three layers of thread, may not have been completely dry on the bottom layers after 24 hrs. Moisture causes hazy finishes too. Re: Hazy thread color using CP

THat's pretty normal for applying milky white CPand putting too much on. Sometimes, even if you put th eright amount of CP on that still happens. Not only with NCP but also Nylon and Madeira. Re: Hazy thread color using CP

NCP....means "no color preserver" needed! With 3 layers of thread you'd be lucky to have anything but a solvent penetrate all the layers. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
