Hey guys, I want to do some marbling, but I want to know what other alternatives there are to the stuff on the rod building websites like CRB pigment and stuff like that. Can i use a regular marbling pigment, paint of some sort? Im curious to know what everyone uses!
Thanks

Testors paint works great for me. Mix it in with a toothpick. Plenty of colors at your local hobby shop.

Go to any hardware store and they will sell or give you some of the pigments from their paint mixing set ups. It is very intense coloring and jumps. You will have to provide your own small containers. Pear-Ex powders are INCREDIBLE. Try an @#$%& site as they are a little pricey but so little is used that they last a LONG time!! Tap pigments are inexpensive but are made for tinting epoxies, etc and a bottle will last for year! With any of these, a small amount on a toothpick is all that's needed (see article in Library) Testors. metallic paints are great, but with any paints you should let the pigment settle to the bottom and pour off the solvents. The solvents can throw off the epoxy and cause problems.

ALSA corporation Spectra FX ; Mystic (color shift powder / flakes) ..... crackle finishes, hydro graphics (water transfer printing) ..... Lots and lots of cool stuff. NOT inexpensive - but a little powder goes a very long way.

Ask politely and Lowe's will give you the sample bottles AND a little of each pigment. It will last half of forever.
