Looking to build my first saltwater spinning rod, 7', 15# - 20# line. Would Alps MXN, Fuji bmnag, ATC typhoon be a good choice for guides or would you suggest something else?
Thank You.

What are you fishing for, and where? I think the Hercules Inshore Lite will fit the bill depending on exactly what you are doing. [northeastrodbuilders.com]

Depends on what you want to do and what reel. What I'd use on a private boat is different from a pier.

I like to fish private boats so my choice would be Fuji BYAG (say first three guides), then Fuji BLAG's for the rest. I no longer see the need for double foot guides and underwraps on that class rod. With braid you can go as small as a 2500 sized reel.

I find it hard to find a tall enough double foot guide for the layout I like.

Hi Frank, feel free to give me a call 407-542-7840. I'd be glad to help you figure out your build based on the details of the application.

"Saltwater spinning rod" is a pretty general term. What is the Target species, technique, etc?

Hi Frank,
The Fuji BMNAG, or the American Tackle TYPHOON series would both be good options for the build. The Typhoons offer there Ring Lock design which are extremely durable as well as several color options, but running double foot guides may not be necessary for this class rod as Russ stated above. As for a blank recommendation take a look at the L844-MHX rod blank, it is a 10-20# class Light Saltwater Rod [www.mudhole.com]. If you are looking for something a bit heavier for offshore applications Billy's recommendation above for the GTS70L which is rated for 15-30 would be a nice option [www.mudhole.com]. Good luck with your build!

Kind Regards,

Depending on your application, the MHX L844 or CB845 would be good choices. The L844 is much faster than the CB845, so I'd let that be my guide.
The Fuji BYAG followed but fly guides should be just fine on this rod but I'd give the Am Tack A Frames a look as well.

It would be mostly inshore species Bass, bonito and barries, from a boat. Want something that the kids can use and have enough backbone to keep the fish away from the sealions.
Thanks for the responses

Frank- for corrsosion resistance, look at the Am Tack NIRLA for the first 3 then go to the fly style NIRLF the rest of the way. Great Value and will last. Also like using the Fuji ICYSG's then down to ICLSG's out to the tip. If money isn't the option, look at the Fuji TYSG and TLSG's. All of my personal inshore rods have these various combos. I fish braid almost exclusively 10-20lb PowerPro or Samurai Braid chasing stripers, albies, blues, redfish, specks, cobia (small). Reels I pair up with are typically Shimano Stradics or Sustains 2500 - 3000. Set it up right and will cast forever. Batson's VS3's are nice as well in the TiCH w/PVD coating. Good luck on your build.
