My Dad recently moved to SC, and is going to be fishing from his boat for striped bass and catfish. I am unfamiliar with the area and type of fishing, looking to build him a rod or two for this area. Any blank suggestions are greatly appreciated!!
Thanks, Sean Re: South Carolina lake blank suggestions

If he decides to do any live bait fishing for Striped Bass, then the Seeker CLB series in the 702 and 704 models are worth a serious look. I have yet to find anything else on the market as suitable for that type fishing.

sean, if he is catfishing on the santee cooper lakes they catch BIG catfish....they don't even look twice at you unless it is over 50lbs...tom's recommendation is a good one...i have built a few rods for the catfishermen down there...give me a shout if you have any questions Re: South Carolina lake blank suggestions

Sean - I am 1 hour from Lake Murray, 1.25 hr from Santee Cooper, etc... drop me an email.
Tom and JP are right. The landlocked (freshwater) stripers aren't shabby either. State record is around 76# and you see 15 - 25# fish brought in regularly. Seen two catfish over 100# brought in off Santee Cooper and who knows how many in the 20 - 60# range. ----------------- AD Re: South Carolina lake blank suggestions

You guys are making me homesick! I grew up fishing Santee Cooper Lakes. Took a job that moved me to TX in 1995. Don't over look the bass/catfish action on the Cooper River itself among the old rice plantations. Action there is never at a loss. I've caught BIG stringers of largemouth there.
