Michael,
Out of curiosity, could you post a picture of the mechanism that you were using on the blank when it broke? I am always interested in seeing pieces of equipment. ----------------- A few years ago, I always used to spine my blanks by using my power wrapper rod rests. I would use the center one upside down so that I could put reverse pressure on the blank with the ball bearing rod rests. It worked very well indeed to locate the spine of easiest deflection. I think that most folks either just take the blank and build the rod, or else the just grab the blank - sight down the blank and find the axis on which the blank is the straightest. Then, build the rod on the straightest blank. It is interesting, but not surprising that often, but not always, the spine of easiest deflection will align itself with the axis of straightest orientation. But it is always the choice of the builder to build the rod hoe he/she sees fit. Roger Re: Got The New MHX White Blank And.....

C. Royce,
While I understand what your saying I feel you've strayed off the point I was making into something personal. People having problems with people. Since the first post I made in this thread I have stayed on point - consumer protection. If a consumer (lets use this thread "for example") has an issue with a vendor they should have the ability to share their story. I dont think this guy was utilizing his "option to say anything they want about anything they want". He was very specific and IMO was being honest with us. He had a problem and was looking for answers. What if the vendor never called him back? What if the vendor asked him to eat the cost of shipping? What if they did anything other than what he deamed satisfactory and fair? Its very important for customers to have a voice. And as I stated before, each case must be measured on it's own merit. I'm confident I can makeout if a guy is just trying to slam a company due to petty personal reasons or the dude has a legitimate gripe. Not to mention it looks like vendors have a voice on here and can speak up when they need to. Bottom line, the end result is good for customers. Those companies that step up reap the rewards and a better customer experience becomes the expected. So the poster most likely will have a good experience, but if he didnt, I just thought he should feel confident that he could come here and look for support in trying to get a better solution or just notify others. Kinda feel like I've repeated myself a bit but again appreciate the civil discourse. __ Calling this a mess is pretty lazy. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 09/07/2011 01:14PM by Adam Curtis. Thanks for the reply Tom. I have yet to build a rod but have been reading alot and ready to pull the trigger. All videos Ive seen the first step is spining the rod then I read on here that its not required, just a little confusing. Thanks Scott Re: Got The New MHX White Blank And.....

Scott,
"spining" is something that an early writer came up with and others have simply followed his lead. If you were to ask them, few if any could give you a straight answer as to why it's done. ........... Re: Got The New MHX White Blank And.....

Bill,
I suspect his post was less a complaint and more about wanting to know if spining a blank could somehow be damaging, i.e. was he going to have problems in the future. ............ Re: Got The New MHX White Blank And.....

Billy,
Ok---Well, I don't think I was being out of line by asking a non-sequential question. I was never being outlandish in my posts, nor was I calling anyone out about the quality. I just stated a very simple question if this has happened to others or not; moreover, I did call and email them, and they said they would get back to me(which they did--promptly.) I just think people took some things out of context for the sake of argument. No harm, no foul here. If I somehow offended certain people(I know we all have our loyalties,) then I'm sorry! Just to let you know, I strictly go through mudhole for my products, so I was in no way trying to do any tarnishing! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
