Interesting thread considering I just finished one an hour ago. The rose closed OK but got a bit crowded on the background (it always does). Then almost lost it all on the tie-off. Re: Rose help

Mine closed up fine.... I followed Billy's instructions.... If you're still having trouble I'd rip it off Re: Rose help

I know Billy will help out with a few problems some of you are having but I found a few little techniques really helped for me, not just with the rose but with pretty much all cross wraps. I try and pack the design area as tight as possible. As the background threads are added, try keeping them well packed and the closing gap between wraps as even as possible. If, when the wrap all closes together and you have some small gaps you can then burnish the tight pattern outwards forcing the background threads to move slightly filling any gaps. If you still have some very small gaps, after CP ing the wrap use Doc Ski's rolling technique to close them up closer than a bankers wallet. Hope this helps. Re: Rose help

Mark, I hate a lot of burnishing. I rather pack more and add more and more threads so there are no gaps that seem to mysteriously pop up once the epoxy is applied and magnifys it. Onc eI cram them n, then I will do a really light burnish - I do not rely on the burnish to close up gaps, I add more threads to do that. But I think that is exactly what you do, emphasis on SMALL GAPS from your post - It's VERY hard to get a point across and share detailed info like this via typing, I'm trying to prevent people from reading a comment and trying to burnish when you could pack tight and add 10-15 more threads, and I have seen a LOT of wraps that were like that at the NERBs gatherings.
Good info Mark Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
