Got a customer who is looking for an 8'6" fly blank in 6wt. I've browsed all catalogs and websites and can only find 8'6" blanks in 5wt. Seems like 6wt start at 9' in length.
Is there one out there I am missing? Can a 7wt - 9 footer be trimmed? or can a 5wt - 9 footer be trimmed? Any suggestions? Re: Fly Rod Blank - 6wt - 8'6" ????

A fast action 5 wt should handle a 6 line just fine
If you can get the CCS numbers on they well tell. if you can find the right one you can also use a spinning blank Bill - willierods.com Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 08/07/2011 11:43AM by bill boettcher. Re: Fly Rod Blank - 6wt - 8'6" ????

i have an old never used Allstar Austin 8ft- 6wt-2pc rod.
You can have it for $125 and strip it down to rewrap it in custom colors. These were among the lightest rods ever made. It's a great fast action rod. Re: Fly Rod Blank - 6wt - 8'6" ????

You might want to check with Versitex, they may still have some Pac Bay IGFA and Tradition blanks (TRF) in that size. They are great blanks, medium fast action and they do cast very well. Re: Fly Rod Blank - 6wt - 8'6" ????
