So on the HM-MB873HMX, has a butt size of .562, and tip size 5, which is a med heavy fast action rod, so and the HM-MB874HMX has a butt size of .540 and the tip size 5.5 which is a heavy fast action rod. So my ? is , why is it that the heavier power model has a smaller butt size and a bigger tip size? unless there was a misprint. anyone know of any reason for this. Just curious. Re: butt size?

The smaller diameter blank probably has a greater wall thickness or different modulus material used. Wall thickness, diameter and modulus of material used to make blank determine power. Re: butt size?

Thanks Thomas, that sounds logical, I'm thinking the bigger tip also has somehting to do with the power rating. Thanks! Re: butt size?

Lorenzo,
My Mud Hole cat shows the MB873-MHX at a butt of .590 with a tip at 5.5 and a weight at 2.65 Mb 874-MHX butt .601 tip 5.5 weight at 2.7 If the info you're seeing is different either or both may be typo's Check with Mud Hole to see if they'll measure an actual blank Eugene Moore Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
