I am new to rod building and have a question : when you build a rod , who registers the rod blank with the manufacturer, the rod maker or the buyer? Re: warranty

Unless I am incorrect, the only blanks that have "registration" available are MHX. Ask yourself the following question ... Who do you want to receive rod building flyers and catalogs? Re: warranty

St Croix registration is for factory rods, not blanks. It is for the purchaser (end user) of the rod. If you will look at one of your St Croix blanks, you will see that they don't carry serial numbers like the factory rods do. Re: warranty

In order for whatever warranty to be in effect, you generally only need to have the original maker's decal/sticker available when you return the blank.

The Magnuson-Moss Act lays out laws regarding warranties - expressed and implied. Also in many states there are additional laws making it a violation to require registration for a warranty to be binding. Basically the language says that failure to register does not diminish the terms of the warranty.
Its widely recognized that warranty registration for any manufactured goods is a marketing function and customer data collection. ----------------- AD Re: warranty

Jim Gamble is correct, amongst others industry firsts, MHX Blanks are the only blanks 1) available exclusively to custom rod builders and 2) blanks are individually serial numbered, 3) have a transferable, limited life time warranty and 4) offers the option to register your MHX blank online.
Online registration of an MHX blank is not required, it is provided as a customer service to save customers the time and effort to mail in a registration. Other manufacturers mail in warranty registration might require full name and address, but the MHX blank online warranty registration does not require your address. Read more about the MHX warranty at: [www.fishmhx.com] Or register your MHX blank online at: [forms.netsuite.com] Or download the new MHX Blank Catalog at: [www.fishmhx.com] Warranties from other blank manufacturers vary but in general you are required to register the blank under the first point of purchase (builder), blanks are not serial numbered and warranties are not transferable once registered. Most blank manufacturers sell rods and warranty rods. Their blank warranties may differ from their rod warranties. Unfortunately it’s not a “one size fits all†when it comes to blank warranties. It is best to check with each blank manufacturer what their warranty policies are before purchasing. But honesty, you’re not going to have to worry about warranties with an MHX blank. Experience has shown us that the MHX warranty claims are almost a non-existent issue with MHX blanks. With tens of thousands of MHX blanks in use by many professional anglers, weekend warriors and custom rod builders, the MHX blanks have proven to have one of the, if not the lowest, warranty returns rates in the industry. In the industry blank warranties run about 3%. MHX warranty claims are less than 0.7% thanks to their proprietary design, fabrication techniques and overall quality of the material used. Another testament to their overall quality and value – making them truly World Class Rod Blanks. If you have any additional questions about MHX warranties or MHX blanks, please contact us at info@fishmhx.com and we will be happy to assist you. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
