Redoing guides

I've posted a couple weeks ago about a fiberglass noodle rod on which I am replacing the guides. I have the old guides removed and the old finish cleaned from the blank.
My question, does the blank have to be baby's butt smooth before I put on the new guides? I don't want to scrape anymore because I am afraid of damaging the blank.
Thanks,
Bruce

Hi Bruce, as long as the surface is smooth enough that the thread won't fall into grooves or give you headaches trying to get it to pack nicely, you're good to go!!

Bruce,
It is not necessary to do anything else to the rod blank. However, if you are planning on applying a finish to the surface of the rod, it is best done before wrapping the new guides.
